The Flu and H1N1 Vaccines
Visions Medical Center is committed to providing optimal care to our patients. We have preservative free seasonal flu vaccines available this flu season. Preservative free vaccines do not contain the controversial preservative thimerosal. Additionally, we carry the H1N1 vaccine (not preservative free) though its distribution is limited to a specific population of individuals (please see below). Whether or not you should receive the flu vaccine is a personal choice. Some of our practitioners encourage getting the flu vaccine while others prefer to focus on prevention and natural support for the immune system. We respect and support whatever your decision may be.
- We are currently offering preservative free seasonal flu vaccine for Primary Care Patients 18 years and over. As vaccine supplies are limited, we suggest that patients who have Primary physicians outside of Visions contact their Primary’s office or local pharmacies to inquire about flu vaccine availability.
- Because of the shortage of preservative free vaccines, we will hopefully be expecting additional doses for patients that are 3 years and older in the late Fall.
- We currently have preservative free vaccines for children that are 6-36 months of age.
-
We are in receipt of the H1N1 vaccines from the Massachusetts Department of Health. At this time, we will only be providing this vaccine to Primary Care patients who fall under the following criteria:
- Children 6 mos to 9 years of age ( will require 2 doses, 1 month apart)
- Pregnant woman
- Healthcare workers with direct patient contact
- Household contacts of infants younger than 6 mos of age
- Household contacts of pregnant woman in their third trimester to ensure their newborn go home to a safe environment
- Please check back for further information.
